Air Break Switch (A B Switch) is a type of electrical switch used primarily in medium-voltage outdoor substations and distribution systems In Mehsana, Kadi, Kalol, Deesa, Palanpur and Radhanpur, these are commonly found in 11kV to 33kV systems, and their primary function is to isolate portions of the power system for maintenance or in case of faults. They are operated manually or via motorized mechanisms and are not intended for interrupting load current — they must be operated only when the circuit is de-energized or when a small capacitive or inductive current is present.
Typically 11 kV, 22 kV, 33 kV
Usually ranges from 400 A to 1250 A.
Single Pole or Triple Pole (TP)
Horizontal or Vertical break
Gang operated (all poles operate together via a single mechanism)
Indian Standard IS 9921, part of the IS/IEC 62271
Used in outdoor switchyards and feeder pillars
Suitable for isolating feeders, transformers, or overhead lines
Common in utilities, industrial installations, and renewable power setups
A B Switch
Atlas Engineering is a hub of air break switch manufacturer and supplier Air Break Switch is used to connect / disconnect the power system of a certain part of overhead cable and Transformer from the main power line. Generally 11KV Air Break Switch & 22KV Air Break Switch for Power Distribution line and 33KV Air Break Switch for Power Generation & Power Transmission Line
Atlas Engineering make Center rotating type triple Pole outdoor on load disconnecting switches for higher line current breaking capacity for line Isolators. Earth switch can be easily installed on each pole at either end and interlocked mechanically the main switch. the auxiliary switches can be provided for man as well as for earth switch. Electrical interlock can be provided, Electrical motor drive mechanism complete with reduction gear and torque limiting safety features can also be provided, Air Break Switch Disconnectors are part of any overhead line network, providing crucial points of isolation.
